영어는 대충 말해도 뜻만 통하면 될까? 의사소통의 기본은 오해 없이 자기 생각과 의견을 정확하게 전달하는 것이다. 특히 남의 나라말을 배울 때는 가능한 한 정확하게 배워서 정확하게 말하도록 힘써야 한다. 《한 문장으로 통하는 영어》는 그 길잡이가 되어 줄 영어회화 책이다. 한 영어 표현이 어떤 의미를 담고 어떤 상황에서 쓰일 수 있는지부터 그 말을 정확하게 구사하기 위한 문법 팁까지 친절하게 설명해 주고 있다.
문법은 더 이상 골치 아픈 영어 공부의 장벽이 아니다. 초등학교에서 배우는 기초 문법만 제대로 알아도 지금껏 두서없는 국적 불명의 영어는 하지 않게 될 것이다. 문장은 ‘단어’와 ‘문법’으로 구성되어 있고, 그 단어들은 문법의 일정한 틀에 얹혀 있다. 각 단어에는 감정이 있고 그 감정에 맞는 의미가 있으며 문법 역시 형식과 내용, 감정을 포함한다. 정확한 감정을 담은 어휘는 정확한 틀과 내용을 갖춘 문법 위에 잘 얹혀 있어야 한다. 그래야 비로소 영어다운 영어가 된다. 따라서 문법을 정확하게 말하기 위한 주춧돌로 삼고 그 위에 튼튼한 영어 실력을 쌓아 보자.

저자소개
한국외국어대학교에서 한국어와 영어를 전공했다. 대학을 졸업한 후 7년간 종로 외국어학원에서 초보자들의 영어 실력 향상을 위해 자신만의 영어 노하우를 개발하였으며, 이후 1988년 KBS FM Radio를 통해 방송계에 입문했다. MBC Radio, CBS Radio를 거쳐서 1990년 SBS TV 아침 생활영어 진행자로 발탁되어 방송영어 스타로 자리매김 했다. 1992년부터는 한국을 방문하는 외국 가수들의 기자회견 통역을 전담하면서 팝송과 영화에 대한 자신의 관심을 영어에 접목시켜 팝송 영어전문가, 팝 칼럼니스트 등으로 입지를 굳건히 했다.
대한민국 방송영어세대를 본격적으로 이끌며 SBS, KBS, MBC, EBS TV 방송의 영어프로그램 진행자로 활동했으며 케이블 방송이 시작되면서부터는 두산, 한샘, 방송대(OUN) 등에서 영어프로그램을 진행하였다. 이후 온라인 강의를 진행하였고, 교통방송에서 <오석태의 영어 두 마디>를 2005년부터 3년간 진행하였다. 2008년부터는 본격적으로 영어교재 개발에 집중하기 시작하였다. 같은 해 ELC Contents라는 출판사겸 컨텐츠 개발 전문회사를 설립하여 대표로 재직하며, 현재 ELC Contents의 영어교재 출판 상표(imprint)인 OST English를 통해 책을 출간하고 있다. 또한, 대치동에서 영작문 전문학원 O Writing을 운영하면서 학생들의 전반적인 영어력 향상에 힘을 쏟고 있다.

NAVER TV의 진행자로 활동 중 이다. 대한민국 방송영어세대를 이끌며 SBS, KBS, MBC, EBS TV 방송의 영어프로그램 진행자로 활동했으며, 케이블 방송이 시작되면서부터는 두산, 한샘, 방송대(OUN) 등에서 영어프로그램을 진행하였다. 저자는 영어의 핵심을 찌르는 속 시원한 강의로 많은 이들의 갈증을 풀어 줬으며, 2007년부터 영어 콘텐츠 개발 전문저자로 활동하고 있습니다. 2017년 현재는 곰국컨텐츠의 대표로 성인 영어 학습지를 개발ㆍ운영하고 있고 Naver 포스트(오석태N곰국영어)의 에디터로서, Naver TV의 진행자로서도 활동하고 있다.
자신의 영어를 토종영어라고 선언하는 그는 자산의 영어가 원어민을 능가한다는 자부심을 갖고 있다. 그 바탕에는 영어에 대한 애착과 탁월한 능력이 있기 때문인데, 그는 밤을 새워가면서 영어에 관한 모든 것을 스스로 학습한다. 문화에 대한 관심이 큰 그는 영화와 음악을 좋아하며 블로그에 자신이 본 영화 감상문을 올리고 있다. 또한 상당한 문필력을 갖추고 있으며, 자신이 영어로 쓰는 창작글에 자부심을 갖고 있다. 물 대신 몇 잔의 우유를 마시는 독특한 습관이 있다. 이화여대 언어교육원장을 역임한 제이씨링구아 오석봉 소장이 그의 형으로 형제가 함께 영어교육계에 종사하고 있다.
